Chicago legend Mike Dunn makes his Classic Music Company debut with his album ‘My House From All Angles’, a record fuelled by a pumping heart of pure house and a body of powerful analogue muscle. With the album standing as Mike’s first long-player since 1990, it’s a record that reinstates Dunn’s authority as a house master.

Dunn has released countless classics like ‘Face The Nation’, ‘God Made Me Phunky’ and ‘Let It Be House’, and became a hero of the underground through aliases like QX-1, The Jass Mann, The Phunky People and The MD Connection. The album title represents the different styles of Mike’s large and long-standing catalogue, from deep stroboscopic acid to groovy US garage, all encapsulated within this 14-track collection.

While the album was previously committed to vinyl by Moreaboutmusic, Classic recognised ‘My House From All Angles’ was long overdue a digital outing and have added previously unheard bonus tracks to refresh it for 2019.

Kicking off is a triptych of heavy synth-driven tracks, ‘Acid Rush’, ‘Body Muzik’ and ‘Coal Mine’. These three tracks are shining examples of why acid house remains one of the most revered pockets of dance music and illustrate Dunn’s impeccable knowledge of the genre. Other album highlights include ‘DJ Beat That Shhh’ featuring MD X-Spress, a vintage bumping dose of Chicago goodness, and ‘Have It 4U Babe’ which revives Dunn’s Jass Mann alias to deliver his signature soulful and grooving style with a rubbery bassline and cut-up vocal samples.

Digital bonus tracks include ‘Phreaky MF’ (MD RemixX), where Dunn’s unmistakable Chicago drawl comes through the speakers and delivers a refreshing update to this salacious classic, ‘This Beat’ with its killer bassline and club-inclined sound and the funk-laden ‘If I Can’t Get Down’.

The shifting moods throughout the album that navigate from jacking acid, to classic techno, right through to soulful brooding house, illustrate why Dunn has successfully chartered the world of dance music. From those first exploratory outings on the Chicago scene until today, he remains a frontier and innovator on the scene. ‘My House From All Angles’ is an ode to the dancefloor that has all the promise of a future classic.
