Mustard After Dinner - An Anthology of Fighting Kites

Fighting Kites

Audio Antihero
AAH024 | 2019-07-12
Bringing together Fighting Kites' self-releases, radio sessions, compilation songs and non-album single, "Mustard After Dinner" is an eclectic and absorbing anthology release from North London's Fighting Kites.

Originally lumped in as "Post-Rock" at the time of their "Split" EP (Audio Antihero) and self-titled debut album (Variant Records), the band easily took as much of their influences from the likes of The Shadows and Booker T & The MGs as they did Dianogah or Tortoise. They were North London's experimental dance band, filling rooms with noise and beauty from 2006 to 2012.

Since FK's dissolution, Neil moved to Japan and continued his exploratory work under his Broken Shoulder alias and founded Kirigirisu Recordings while Daniel and David formed The Drink and released two highly acclaimed albums.

"Rather delightful." - Gideon Coe (BBC 6 Music)
"Adventurously layered instrumental rock…freed from the build and release overwhelmingness that most of its kin cleaves to in favour of circulatory intricacy."" - Sweeping the Nation
"This is post-rock in the good way, the way that made me buy every single Tortoise album. Instrumental, melodic and pleasantly sun-drenched, I like everything about Fighting Kites." - Right Where You Are Sitting Now
"Thankfully they've stayed away from the often too obvious loud vs. quiet technique which represents so much post rock music, It's Chicago sounding. It's a pleasure to listen to them and be reminded that we have some great alternative musicians in our city." - The 405
"An intriguing mix of light and dark from a rather exciting new British act – 8/10" - The Music Fix
